U8s - Earlsdon Print E-mail

On a bitterly cold, but thankfully dry day, OL’s U8s entertained visitors Earlsdon to 2 games of high quality tag rugby.

In game 1 the OL’s Spitfires dominated possession which was reflected in the final score of 40-15. Some splendid passing on the run, jinky running and spirited tagging was a demonstration of good team work.
This hard work was finished off with tries for Kai Bailey (4), Alex Witchell (2) and a try apiece for Benedict Lloyd and Jonas Lines. Game 2 saw the OL’s hurricanes fielding a less experienced side that emerged victorious 10-5 through a combination of solid defence, ferocious tagging and excellent support play. Tries were scored by Rory Holland and Ben McCann.

Both games demonstrate a real development in the skills of the players which can only bode well for the continuing success of the squad.

abf_logo.jpgMike Vallance is raising money for the Army Benevolent Fund by walking lots of miles in a series of events throughout this year. The Army Benevolent Fund is the Army's National Charity. For over sixty years the charity has worked tirelessly to provide financial and practical support to soldiers, former soldiers and their families in times of need. Old Leamingtonians RFC has so far been extremely supportive in helping Mike reach his target of £5,000.  But there is always more money to raise! FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON
On a beautiful crisp sunny morning the Panthers beat Earsdon 7 - 6. In a match of end-to-end play the Under 7s really played well with excellent passing, positioning and running. Log in to the restricted section below for scorers and Player of the Match.

As usual we had far too many players for the opposition so our Jaguars team also played them. They also put up an excellent performance, the final score being a 3 -3 draw.

The Jaguars also played our own U8s side, one of our girls scoring against the "big boys". The final score was 1 - 4.

OL’s  Ladies build on last week’s performance

An impressive team performance gave OL’s ladies a much deserved win over Lutterworth to cement their mid table position in their new challenging league this season.
After an unsettled first 5 minutes with some arguable penalties against OL’s and winger Hannah Leyland being yellow carded for a dubious off-side OL’s got their heads together & started the scores.

Christie Foster took advantage of a quick penalty by off loading to Claire Penna at 13 who had spotted the gap behind the pack & after a neat side step of the full back put 5 points on the board. Shortly, after some good supporting runs from a lively pack OL’s moved the game line back into the Lutterworth 22.

A kick from Lutterworth was well received by Coleman at 15 who ran well in-field avoiding the tackles for another neat off load to Penna at the right second to exploit a gap under the posts which gave Captain Danni Benge at 10 her first of 3 conversions.
