OLs Under 9s are pleased to welcome a new coach to their team. Celina Bennett, star Full Back (when fit!) with OLs Ladies 1st XV, has attended a couple of training sessions since the New Year, and made an immediate impact with the lads. She will be with us for the rest of the season, playing commitments permitting.

OL’s Ladies build on last week’s performance

An impressive team performance gave OL’s ladies a much deserved win over Lutterworth to cement their mid table position in their new challenging league this season.
After an unsettled first 5 minutes with some arguable penalties against OL’s and winger Hannah Leyland being yellow carded for a dubious off-side OL’s got their heads together & started the scores.
Christie Foster took advantage of a quick penalty by off loading to Claire Penna at 13 who had spotted the gap behind the pack & after a neat side step of the full back put 5 points on the board. Shortly, after some good supporting runs from a lively pack OL’s moved the game line back into the Lutterworth 22.
A kick from Lutterworth was well received by Coleman at 15 who ran well in-field avoiding the tackles for another neat off load to Penna at the right second to exploit a gap under the posts which gave Captain Danni Benge at 10 her first of 3 conversions.

We had a squad of 12 players at Alcester and played two games - the first having15 minute halves, the second ten minute halves. This partly explains the difference in the two score lines!! Alcester had a squad of approx 15 players.
First game: Alcester 0 OL's 45.
It was 15-0 at half time. Most of the game was spent in Alcester's half
who unfortunatley for them only got anywhere near the OL's try line on
one occasion. It was a brilliant team effort by OL's with some very
solid defending and recycling of the ball.
Tries scored by George Pool
(2), Ben Standbridge (2), Tom Boag (2), Alfie Reynolds (2) and Matthew
Witchell.
