We took 10 players to this tournament which was well organised (except for parking) and enjoyed perfect weather.
Our first game was against Berkswell and Balsall and we made a fantastic start by beating them 7-2. Our scorers were: Adam Thompson; Zac Parker (2); Ben Hawkes; and Charlie Labbett (3)
Next we played Kenilworth Lions, always a strong team and were narrowly beaten 4-5 after some dubious decisions. Nevertheless our boys played really well the scorers being Oliver Mansell (2) and Charlie Labbett (2)
Finally we played Sillhillians in which game we maintained the highest standars of the season and ran out of time during a winning run to finish with a 4-4 draw. Our scorers were Zac Parker; Ben Hawkes; Charlie Labett and Oliver Mansell.
Had we won this last match we would have won the whole tournament but did magnificently to come a close second. Poor Rachel, just as she gets them playing really well they all leave her and move to the U8s.
A great end to the season! All players and parents offer thanks and congratulations to Rachel who took a bunch of kids who were a rabble and had no idea what rugby was about and turned them into a well organised winning team. Well done Rachel.

Au revoir tag rugby! The U8s finished a season where they have developed and improved vastly with regard to their positioning, ball handling, support play etc. The last hurrah of the season saw them beat two teams of enthusiastic parents who set a sadly predictable low standard of skill, ability and sportsmanship. Fierce misplaced competitiveness saw the parents resorting to rough-house tactics when they realised the speed of their youth was long gone but this was still not enough to beat the U8s…..
The previous weekends had seen the U8s play in the OLs tournament with their two teams, the Spitfires and Hurricanes, finishing a distinguished second and fourth. This followed the away trip to Sutton Coldfield where the players achieved an excellent two victories out of four matches against strong opposition.
Next season will bring contact rugby as the U9s with a new set of opportunities and challenges for the players and coaches alike.
All connected with the U8s, both players and parents, would like to express a huge gratitude of thanks to coach Fraser Hoare who is stepping down after three seasons in charge, to be replaced by Jonathan Wallis. Fraser has developed the children into a great team. Thanks Fraser.

A successful end to the season for the U11s saw the boys take second place in the Kenilworth tournament. The lads played very well against some stiff opposition and won 3 out of 4 games. The sun even shone until the very last game before the heavens opened as everyone walked back to their cars.
This fine performance followed on from the previous two weekends tournaments at Sutton Coldfield and at home, at both of which the boys played creditably and with spirit.
Players, coaches and parents have really enjoyed the last season; the lads have come on tremendously and have matured in their game in all respects providing some entertainment for the spectators as well as gelling as a team.
A great bunch of lads and a great bunch of coaches (team administrator included!). Back in September as the U12s. Enjoy the summer!

Once again we had more than enough players for two teams so we had Panthers and Jaguars
Both Kenilworth and Stratford fielded only one team each.
The first game was Kenilworth v. our Jaguars who were unfortunately outclassed and lost 7-1.
Next was OL Panthers v. Stratford which was a closer game resulting in a 5-4 win for Stratford .
The OL Panthers went straight on to play Kenilworth. We had tries disallowed when the ball was put on the line in one case and over the line after a tag one stride from the line in another case. Even after this discouraging refereeing the Panthers held Kenilworth to a 6-6 draw. A moral victory I think - Well done lads. Lets get our own back next weekend.
The next game was OL Jaguars v. Stratford which they lost 1-4
Finally we had the local derby of the OL Panthers playing the OL Jaguars. The Panthers won 6-0.
See below for scorers.

Usually, internal games tend not to merit much attention once they're over. But this game is an exception to that rule. Shipston had pulled out and the 26 or so players left with nothing to do on a Saturday afternoon decided to play against each other before breaking out the beer.
I for one am glad we did. These games usually coincide with a number of injuries as some people take it more seriously than others. Not so in this case. The intensity with which these guys played matched any other competitive game in terms of commitment. This was not a best vs. the rest game either, but a genuine attempt to create an even game.
