ANOTHER defeat -- the fourth in seven league outings -- saw Leamingtonians extend an up and down season in disappointing fashion.
Early days yet, but a lot of improvement is needed if skipper Andy Davies and his men are to mount a serious challenge for promotion from Division Four West (South). Slip shod passing, scrappy set piece play and little return from the line-out again cost them dear as Dunlop emerged deserved winners at Burnaby Road.
Dunlop were always quicker to react to any loose ball, their half-back pairing dictated matters with impressive skill and verve, and a 15 points interval lead had the writing on the wall as Leamingtonians spurned scoring vital chances of their own through crucial ball spillage when the home line was put under threat.
Another seven points had been added to the Dunlop tally before prop replacement Neil Boag went over for a try, two points being tagged on by Jamie Brown.
In all-action Welsh flanker Ian Rowley, Leamingtonians boast a commendable talent, whilst their nippy backs do pack plenty of potential. But the pack has yet to get its game together with star player Steve Campton's pre-season switch to Broadstreet proving a huge loss.
Next match: Berkswell & Balsall (home Saturday 2.15).
