Another away match, with the Vets keeping the playing numbers up in the club. The Vets travelled to Coventrians to discover that they only had 11 players. Rapid negotiation by Julian with the Coventrians and the Referee resulted in the Vets starting the game with 12 players whilst lending the Coventrians Morgs and Graham Thomas. It was agreed that the order of the day would be uncontested scrums with no 8 pick up..
The Vets started powerfully with new man Chris Bartlett crossing for his first try ever on a rugby field, (apparently he has scored in bed before), followed rapidly by Cawail crossing for 2 further trys in quick succesion. At this point members of Coventrians turned up so Graham and Morgs returned to their positions in the Vets. The game continued in excellent spirits with further trys for the Vets being scored by, Chris Joyner, Steve Cook, Dean Harris 2 and Cawail a further 1. Chris Joyner kicked 4 conversions Coventrians scored a consolation try leaving the result as Old Leamingtonian Vets 48 - Coventrians 7 |
