OLs Hooker Pip Colenutt packs down for West midsFor the 3rd year in a row, West Mids have won the Regional Title and Old Leamingtonians Ladies were key to this succcess.

West Mids are coached by OLs coach Gemma Lewis and OLs hooker Caz Lambert and Pip Colenutt (see picture) and Christie Honor played a vital part on the pitch as hooker and 2nd row respectively. We are obviously very proud of this.

West Midlands were as dominant as ever throughout the tournament, with three convincing wins from three, and they wrapped up the championship with a defiant 17-0 triumph over the South.

OLs Captain christie Honor (Middle) winning for West MidsThe South by no means rolled over for the defending champions and, in fact, it took until the 18th minute for the West Midlands to showcase their talents. The back line showed their versatility by driving the ball over the line and Jenny Mills came in for additional support to touch down. Morgan then converted.

Morgan was again at the forefront of the action moments later when the fly-half, with the assistance of the wind, kicked out of West Midlands’ 22 and into the South’s territory with Helen Price chasing. South gathered, but Price executed an impressive tackle for the ball to go loose. Price this time gathered and managed to score in the corner handing West Midlands a 12-0 lead at half-time.

After the restart, despite now playing into the wind, West Midlands’ Karina Corner stole the ball from a breakdown and evaded three defenders to run in for a try in the corner creating a very comfortable 17 point cushion after just 55 minutes.

With their pride at stake the South came back strongly and did themselves justice by keeping the rampaging Midlands from scoring any further tries, though to their disappointment they too were unable to break the try-line leaving the final score at 17-0.

In the third and fourth place play-off, East were the victors over East Midlands, taking a 15-5 victory.

Sunday November 23rd at the club from 10.00am

The gum shield is the most important piece of equipment a rugby player should own.

gumshield.pngThe gum shield not only protects your teeth and gums, it can reduce damage around the jaw and your chances of getting concussed.

As every mouth is different, so every gum shield should be moulded to fit perfectly around the top half of a player's mouth.

The best way of doing this is to see your local club dentist, who will make sure the shield is right for your mouth.

Roy Dixon, Dentist of this parish, will be available at the club to take impressions for perfectly moulded blue-and-gold gum shields.

£25 cash for complete piece of mind
