Scheduled visitors Copsewood failed to put in an
appearance at Old Leamingtonians on Saturday -- the third time this season that
the Coventry club have forfeited Midlands League Division Four West (South)
points.
Once again lack of sufficient front row depth was
given as the reason, offered by telephone only two hours before the kick-off.
"Copsewood said that they were down to three front row players but would be
willing to travel to play a friendly fixture," said OL spokesman Dennis Fisher.
"We sympathise with their current plight but pointed out the league rules
state that the game must go ahead if both sides are able to field a front row.
Copsewood said that they would not be travelling."
Both points will be awarded to Old Leamingtonians
to leave them with an impressive record of four wins and one defeat. But Fisher
added that the "nil-nil win" did nothing for their points difference. "After
taking a mauling at Ledbury the week previously we would have liked to have had
the opportunity to put some points on the board against Copsewood."
