U9s - Barkers Butts

Under 9s begin season in confident fashion! After five weeks of intensive training OL’s Under 9s were champing at the bit to put new skills into practice in the fixture with Barkers Butts. In the first game, Barkers did not know what had hit them, as OLs ran in four tries, following excellent tackling and rucking. Although Barkers got on the board after half time with two tries, OLs replied on each occasion and eased to victory by 30 to 10. (Scorers : George Hawkes (2), Callum Dixon, Sennan Scobie, Bailey Wightman and Jack Firth). In the second fixture, Barkers redoubled their efforts against a less experienced OLs side. However, stout defence and excellent tries from Will Fawcett and Josh Allen, enabled honours to be shared in a 10-all draw. A vain attempt to give everyone some more ‘game time’ in a third fixture, led to a rather disjointed affair, with neither side able to score. In summary a win and two draws against experienced opposition, was an excellent start to the season.
