A try 15 between the post 15 minutes from full time gave OL’s a breathing space and was reward for a period of sustained pressure on the Dunlop defence. Adam Canning kicked the conversion to give OL’s a 12 points to 3 lead.

The game had started with both teams testing each other out in the forwards with neither side gaining the upper hand.  Sound defence from both teams, particularly from the OL’s backs kept Dunlop well away from the home 22.  However a number of infringements in the loose provided Dunlop with a number of opportunities to clear their lines when under OL’s attack.  One such infringement provided Dunlop with a kicking opportunity after 15 minutes which was well struck from 35 meters to give Dunlop a 3 point lead.

This triggered the OL’s into a period of more determined play and gradual movements of play toward the Dunlop 22 resulted in a line out for OL’s from which good rucking and driving saw the OL’s forwards force the game over the Dunlop goal line to allow Luke Turner to score a well worked try to give OL’s a 5 points to 3 half time lead.

The second half was played in much the same fashion as the first with both sides having good scoring opportunities but resolute defence by both teams prevented further scoring until OL’s began to exert more pressure on the Dunlop defence in the last quarter.  The OL’s forwards were beginning to out play the Dunlop pack and the OL’s fast backs were coming more into the game. It was only last gasp tackles on two occasions that prevented the fast moving OL backs to score further tries.

Fifteen minutes from time an OL’s kick ahead was deflected by a Dunlop player into the Dunlop 22 area into the path of back row forward John Hall who ran at the  Dunlop defence before releasing Dan Peart with a well timed pass allowing him to breach the Dunlop line and score between the posts.

The last minutes of the game was played under good control by OL’s by playing good basic containing rugby to prevent Dunlop with any chance of reducing the score.

Outstanding player for OL’s was second row forward John Carnell.

Sunday November 23rd at the club from 10.00am

The gum shield is the most important piece of equipment a rugby player should own.

gumshield.pngThe gum shield not only protects your teeth and gums, it can reduce damage around the jaw and your chances of getting concussed.

As every mouth is different, so every gum shield should be moulded to fit perfectly around the top half of a player's mouth.

The best way of doing this is to see your local club dentist, who will make sure the shield is right for your mouth.

Roy Dixon, Dentist of this parish, will be available at the club to take impressions for perfectly moulded blue-and-gold gum shields.

£25 cash for complete piece of mind
