OLs U8s – Broad St This Sunday winter appeared with a vengeance but, despite being thoroughly soaked and chilled, the Under 8s put in two splendid performances against a well prepared Broadstreet. The OL under 8s fielded three teams but due to the atrocious weather, and the fact that Broadstreet brought minimal numbers, only two matches were actually played with honours shared evenly. Well done to those players that supported throughout. Game 1: OLs 15 Broad St 20 Cold hands and a wet ball didn’t stop some good team work from OLs in the first match, but it was not quite enough to stop Broad St winning the game. Solid running from AJ Beasley and some excellent support work and tagging by Lewis King were highlights of an all round good performance. Tries were scored by Cameron Jessamine, Lewis King and Alex Witchell. Game 2: OLs 25 Broad St 20 A strong OLs side managed to hold off Broad St and earn a victory in the second game. Danielle Clutton and Ben McCann tackled furiously with good support play from Adam Bragg. Tries came from Kai Bailey, George Smith and Benedict Lloyd. Special mention has to be made of the two tries from Sam Farrow, both of which involved footwork that can only be described as incredible! A big thank you to the U8s parents that helped out with kitchen duties in the club house. Due to their customer service skills (or was it the weather) a record breaking amount was taken for the coffers of the U8s. Well done to all. |
