Stratford - U8s

On a wet & windy Sunday, OLs U8s travelled to Stratford for a feast of TAG Rugby involving 5 matches. The players were split into two teams; the Spitfires and the Hurricanes.   The Spitfires played 3 games resulting in a 30-20 win, a 15-10 loss and a 10-10 draw. The tagging from the Spitfires was as good as we have seen all season and a couple of tries were scored due to quick passing, a new phenomenon for the U8s! Stratford were very quick on the restart catching the Spitfires defensive line out more than once. Tries in the three matches came from Benedict Lloyd, Sam Farrow(2), Danielle Clutton, Kai Bailey (3), Lewis King and Tom Fawcett (2). The children really enjoyed the three evenly matched games.                         The Hurricanes played 2 matches, the first being a 15/15 draw with Edward Innes, Oliver Wallis and Christian Leith the scorers.  The second game was a hard fought affair with Stratford edging the OL’s by a single try 20/15, scorers Cameron Jessamine, Theo McCauliffe and Harriett Lee.   Overall the performance of both teams provided solid evidence of good sportsmanship and continuing development.
