On a cold, bleak but, thankfully, dry final day of the 2007 fixtures, a strong squad of 19 OL’s U8s players entertained a small visiting squad from Keresley managing to run out as eventual winners, 25-20.
Unfortunately, due to the visitor’s depleted numbers, only one match was possible against a mixed U7’s and U8’s team. OL’s changed their team wholesale at half time and won the match 25 – 20. The try scorers were Sam Farrow, Kai Bailey, Benedict Lloyd, Tom Fawcett and Alex Witchell, although every team member played their part.
After the match, coach Fraser Hoare said ‘Disappointingly not every member of the OL’s squad got game time due to the lack of opposition numbers and the fact we could only play one game, so a big thanks for their support during the match.”
Many of the team later went on to the Minis section Christmas party where they met Father Christmas and gorged themselves on the plentiful party food. A splendid end to the first half of the season.
