'Magnificent' was all head coach Jim Button kept muttering! The OLs U11s, with a squad of 22 and skippered by Stelios Tzirki, produced their best ever team performance to run out comfortable 35-5 winners in what has historically been a closely fought derby encounter. Strong rucking and mauling from the forwards was only surpassed by sublime breaks and passing from the backs with the coaches in near ecstasy as the ball went down the line. The boys’ defensive work was also exemplary as tackle after tackle was made, driving the opposition back with Leamington only managing to score a single try in the last second of the game. Special thanks to a number of OL players who had to turn out for Leamington due to the home team’s depleted numbers. All who played deserve great credit. Well done! Tries scored by: Ben Beards, James Perkins, Stelios Tzirki, Sam Button and Jake Byrne (3) Player of the match: The whole Team for an exemplary performance Best support player: All the OLs who turned out for the opposition |
