U9s - Kenilworth

OLs U9s entertained near-neighbours Kenilworth on a bright and breezy morning. Our visitors brought a large squad enabling two games to be played simultaneously. As usual OLs put out two mixed sides.On Pitch 1, OLs were on top from the first whistle and scored four tries in each half, winning by 40 - 0. Scorers were Callum Dixon, Bailey Wightman, Sam Beards and the irrepressible Kieran Brophy with a nap-hand! Meanwhile on Pitch 2, a closer contest with Ks was dominated by defence on both sides, and it took an exceptional effort from OLs to lead by the odd try in three at half-time. OLs maintained their efforts after the break, scoring the only try of the half, winning by 15 - 5. Scorers were the tenacious George Hawkes (2) and Matthew Sawyer. After a pause to catch breath, battle recommenced...  On Pitch 1, OLs again started quickly with George Hawkes scoring a hat-trick before half-time. Ks redoubled their efforts and stormed back to gain a deserved 20-all draw, despite a try from Sennen Scobie. On Pitch 2, Sam Beards scored early on but Ks responded straight away with a length of the pitch breakaway. OLs were undeterred and scored twice more to lead by 15 - 10 at half-time. The pressure was kept up in the second half as OLs eased to a 25 - 15 win. Scorers were Sam Beards (2), Jack Firth, Callum Dixon and Kieran Brophy.
