OLs Under 9s maintained their recent good form, winning all three matches at a muddy Old Coventrians on Sunday. On a bright, sunny day - the first day of Summer - OLs mixed the starting line up as usual.

In game 1, OLs took some time to get to grips with OCs rucking and mauling, conceding a try early on. Kyriakos Grammatopoulos dotted down frm a maul to level at half time. OLS gained the upper hand in the second half; Alex Smith picked up a loose ball to score and George Hawkes scored a third as OLs won by 15 -5.

OLs made numerous changes to their line up and dominated match two from the first whistle with excellent tackling and rucking. Three tries were scored in each half (scorers - Jack Firth, Sennen Scobie (2), James McSharry and Kieran Brophy (2)) as OLs eased to a 30 - 0 victory.

The boys ignored the opportunity of an early lunch to play a third game.

In the final game, OCs made a good start against a rejigged OLs but could not turn pressure into tries, and OLs broke away to score through Callum Dixon, who celebrated with a swallow dive in the mudbath by the corner flag, just remembering to ground the ball! The momentum remained with OLs in the second half and further tries were scored through James McSharry (2) and Kieran Brophy. OCs deserved their consolation try with the last play of the game as OLs won by 20 - 5.
