Au revoir tag rugby! The U8s finished a season where they have developed and improved vastly with regard to their positioning, ball handling, support play etc. The last hurrah of the season saw them beat two teams of enthusiastic parents who set a sadly predictable low standard of skill, ability and sportsmanship. Fierce misplaced competitiveness saw the parents resorting to rough-house tactics when they realised the speed of their youth was long gone but this was still not enough to beat the U8s….. The previous weekends had seen the U8s play in the OLs tournament with their two teams, the Spitfires and Hurricanes, finishing a distinguished second and fourth. This followed the away trip to Sutton Coldfield where the players achieved an excellent two victories out of four matches against strong opposition. Next season will bring contact rugby as the U9s with a new set of opportunities and challenges for the players and coaches alike. All connected with the U8s, both players and parents, would like to express a huge gratitude of thanks to coach Fraser Hoare who is stepping down after three seasons in charge, to be replaced by Jonathan Wallis. Fraser has developed the children into a great team. Thanks Fraser. |
