OLs Under 10s travelled to Kenilworth on Sunday for the Warwickshire and West Midlands qualifier of the Leicester Tigers Prima Cup. The prize at stake was a knock-out match at Welford Road before the Premiership game against Harlequins in late November.

OLs were drawn in the 'Group of Death' with hosts Kenilworth, Stratford and Nuneaton.
The first match against Nuns was a tight affair with defences on top. A 40 metre run by hooker Callum Dixon was stopped just short of the line, but OLs recycled the ball, and as Nuns made a mistake Kyriakos Grammatopoulos pounced to score from close range. This proved to be the only score of the match as OLs held on with some comfort to win 5 - 0.

A change in front-row in the next match against Kenilworth, showed OLs strength in depth. Will Fawcett called the shots from fly-half as OLs began to play a more expansive game. They were rewarded with tries from James McSharry and Jack Firth, the latter playing through the pain after taking a blow 'amidships'. The defence was rock solid as George Hawkes and Kieran Brophy made tackle after tackle, as OLs eased to a 10 - 0 victory.

A virtual semi-final followed against Stratford. OLs were soon on the backfoot against a physically large side and desperate defence kept the scoreboard blank, until Strat scored with the last move of the first half. A second try followed as Stratford won, deservedly, by 10 - 0, before going on to beat Sills in the Final.

The Tigers organiser, Eric Parker had refereed the match with Stratford and commented that it had been the best U10 game he had seen for many seasons. In particular the scrum of Dixon, Firth and Scobie held out against bigger, and technically proficient opponents.
