Old Leamingtonians Under 10s made the trip to Barkers Butts on Mothers Day and played three fantastic games of rugby, as they limbered up for the OLs Festval next week.
The first match saw OLs dominate from the start, nailing every tackle and dominating at the ruck. They scored four tries in the first half through Kieran Brophy (2), Jack Nixon and Kyriakos Grammatopoulos. Although Barkers were a physically bigger side, they failed to make an impression, and OLs score three further tries after the break, through Josh Allen, Brophy and Grammatopoulos, to ease to a 35 – 0 victory. The rematch saw a much-changed OLs side come under pressure in the scrum, as Barkers raised their game. James McSharry scored for OLs before the break. However, Barkers levelled the score after the restart, and it took a concerted forward effort from OLs to sneak home 10- 5; the winning score coming from Sam Beards. As Sunday Lunch was delayed a third and final match was played. OLs again shuffled their pack, and maintained the high performance levels of the previous games. Four tries were scored in each half, with none conceded, as OLs won by 40 – 0. Scorers were James McSharry (4), Brophy, Grammatopoulos (2) and Nixon. |
