OLs U10s turned out two teams on a glorious spring day, hosting matches against Rugby Lions, Stourbridge and Evesham. The less experienced Reds battled hard throughout the day, and were unlucky to win only one match with a single try against Evesham (scored by Sam Hill). A fortunate break allowed Rugby Lions to score a late try and win 10 - 5 (again Sam scored for Reds), and Stourbridge were given a tremendous game before winning 10 - 0. The Blues started with a titanic struggle against Stourbridge, with the match being evenly contested until halftime, as OLs turned round 10 - 5 in front. The Blues turned up the heat in the second half, running in three further tries, to win by 25 -10. A quck turnaround meabt that Blues were up against Lions immediately, and again another nailbiter ensued! Blues soon got to grips with Lions planned moves, and although there was no score at halftime, OLs moved ahead after the break, edging home by 10 - 5. After lunch, a dozy Blues side made an indifferent start against Evesham, and were lucky to be two tries to the good at the half. Evesham hit back, but Ols had shaken off their torpor and scored again, winning 15- 0. With the Trophy won, Blues played some carefree rugby in the in-house battle, scoring six tries against a valiant but tiring Reds team. Try scorers for Blues : George Hawkes (3), James McSharry (3), Josh Allen (4), Kieran Brophy (3), Will Fawcett (2) and Will Button. |
