OL's U10 vs Stratford 15/11/09

OL’s U10’s visited Stratford in numbers on a sunny Sunday morning and played 5 matches, 4 against the hosts (W1, D1, L2) and 1 against a visiting development team from Moseley (W1) Round 1   With matches running on two pitches the action was non-stop – on Pitch 1 OL’s started off against the hosts in a suitably physical encounter, ending up with a 25 - 10 defeat to Stratford in a match that was closer than the score line suggests. Pitch 2 saw an OL’s side defeat Moseley 35 – 0 with tries from Edward Commander, AJ Beesley, Alex Knight and Tom Hoare (4). Highlights were the forward dominance, resolute tackling and open running throughout the team.   Round 2   The next round of Matches saw OL’s on Pitch 1 defeat Stratford ‘B’ with a victory 15-10, tries coming from Alex Knight, Pearce Gibson and Tom Hoare – Stratford turned up the heat in the second half having been 10 – 0 down at half-time, testament to OL’s for tackling hard and keeping forward pressure on at the breakdown.   Round 3   OL’s were in action on both pitches again – Pitch 1 seeing a titanic struggle that ending in a 10 – 10 draw, tries coming from Kai Bailey and Archie Cook’s maiden score with the last play of the match to gain the draw.  On Pitch 2 OL’s ending up with a 15 – 0 defeat.   The 4 match’s vs. the hosts were played with sides of mixed experience and ability from both clubs – final score lines aside, some of the individual performances and passages of play from OL’s  proved to be some of the most satisfying of the season so far.
