Old Leamingtonians U10s
secured a prestigious Prima Cup quarter-final fixture after winning a regional
qualifying festival played at Lutterworth RFC. The Prima Cup is organised by
Leicester Tigers and open to all under 10s teams throughout the Midlands and
East Anglia. The standard of all entrants is high. OLs are excited that the
quarter final will be played at a packed Leicester Tigers home ground of
Welford Rd just before Tigers take on ASM Clermont-Auvergne in a televised Heineken
cup match.
On a cold, blustery day the valiant U10s saw
off challenges from Kenilworth, Barker Butts, Rugby lions and Sutton Coldfield
to ensure victory. An unrelenting and robust display by the forwards ensured
that the team had a strong foundation from which to launch attacks. OLs pressed
their opponents at every opportunity and displayed the tackling ability that is
present throughout the team, not conceding a try until the last match of the
festival. Results : OLs 5 (George Smith) Kenilworth 0, OLs 10 (Luke Green,
Alex Witchell) Barker Butts 0, OLs 10 (Kai Bailey 2) Rugby lions 0, OLs 10 (Zac
Leng, Luke Green) Sutton Coldfield 10.
