OLs played two games at home to neighbours Kenilworth on Sunday.

In the first match, OLs forwards dominated from the whistle, supplying quick ball from which the backs made inroads into the Ks defence. OLs scored four tries in the first half through the rampaging Matthew Sawyer (2), Will Fawcett and James McSharry, who also slotted three conversions.. The second period was a much closer affair as Kenilworth harried OLs into mistakes. A solitary try for OLs from Kyriakos Grammatopoulos, converted by George Hawkes, meant the score ended 33 – 0 to the hosts.

A much changed, OLs team started the rematch in top gear, scoring seven tries before half time; three from Sam Hill, including a length of the field run, through the entire K’s defence. Other scorers were Kieran Brophy (2), Alex Smith and Callum Dixon, with Sam Forster adding four conversions. OLs eased off after half time, though Dixon added another, and Chicago-born Thomas Talanges scored his first ever try! A solitary conversion by McSharry, ensured a 55 – 0 win for OLs.

This was undoubtedly OLs most complete performance of the season as the forwards were dominant in both set piece and at the breakdown, allowing the backs to have plenty of ball, making light of the muddy conditions, to score a number of breathtaking tries.
