Last Sunday Old leamingtonians ladies faced Lichfield II's away for the teams first game sinc December due to bad weather. Despite a persistent attack and good decision making from fly half Danni Benge the team failed to make anything from it.

The first 5 minutes saw a breakaway try from the Lichfield fly half who demonstrated the pace Lichfield were to destroy us with when given half a chance for the next75 minutes. In the first half OLs ladies spent plenty of time playing positive rugby, retaining possession and moving up the field. The team welcomed back Victoria Kerr following the birth of her daughter in November. Kerr, playing back row supported Benge with some excellent kicking and supporting runs. The line outs started well and the team gained more ground, a well positioned deep kick from Benge saw winger Lewis miss out on a try by seconds outpaced by the Lichfield full back. From a 22 drop out the centre broke through a tackle and stormed straight through for another try.

The second half proved much the same, OLs ladies playing hard positive rugby but missed tackles and errors gave away possession for Lichfield's centres to put 3 more tries in. Several try saving tackles were made by Becky Dudders working hard at full back supported by Lewis and Second Row Sly. In the last ten minutes OLs ladies picked up their pace and following several breakdowns a gap saw Victoria Kerr almost give Netball Holden on the wing her first try, but it wasn't to be on this occasion.

Determined
not to leave without any points the forwards worked strong and hard, getting clean ball out to scrum half Leyland and with 10 metres to go Benge called quick ball and held the defence long enough to give Kerr a run up the blind to give the OLs ladies 5 points in the corner.

The Forwards of the Match went to Second Row May Sly and Back Row Sarah Rothwell. Backs of the Match went to wingers ‘Netball' Holden and Vicky Lewis.
