Exciting times are ahead at Old Leamingtonians Rugby Football Club, Warwickshire following the appointment of former Leicester Tigers winger Steve Booth as their new coach.

Booth's impressive credentials highlighted him as a must have coach for the ambitious club who have three senior men's teams, colts, women's and a mini and juniors section.

Booth, 33, began his career in rugby league with Huddersfield Giants before switching codes in 2000.

In five seasons with Leicester Tigers he won the Premiership and the Heineken Cup, as well as playing for England A, the England sevens and finished off his career at Bath when he appeared in the EDF Cup Final

Booth ended the 2001/02 season as Tigers' joint top Premiership try-scorer, along with Geordan Murphy with nine tries apiece, and in 2002/03 was the sole top try-scorer with 10 touchdowns in all competitions. He was voted the Zurich Premiership Player of The Month in January 2002

Booth, who scored 26 tries in 71 games for Leicester and has also added an additional 64 points through his boot, said he was impressed by the set-up and attitude of the players at The Crofts.

Director of Rugby Neil Boag said: "Old Leamingtonians have high hopes for the future of rugby at the club, finding a calibre of coach to match that ambition is not an easy task. We are excited at the prospect of Steve coming to the club and believe he is the perfect candidate to meet the club's aspirations."

Anyone interested in joining the club to be a part of these exciting times at Old Leamingtonians, training commences on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7pm or alternatively call 01926  424991.
