OLs Under 11s travelled to Evesham on Sunday, for a fixture with the hosts and Gloucester Spartans.
In the first match, against Spartans - the self-styled 'best team in Gloucestershire' - OLs faced their toughest physical test of the season. A mistake from the kick-off put OLs under pressure, but resolute defence kept Spartans out. Slowly, OLs got to terms with their opponents abrasive style, and moved on to the attack, with Callum Dixon to the fore. As OLs forwards began to dominate, Spartans started to give away penalties, and from one near the line, Sam Forster skated over, adding the conversion himself.
The match against Evesham, saw an experimental OLs side, dominate from the start. Jack Nixon and Josh Blight both made long penetrating runs, into the heart of Evesham's defence. |
