OLs Under 11s travelled to Evesham on Sunday, for a fixture with the hosts and Gloucester Spartans.

In the first match, against Spartans - the self-styled 'best team in Gloucestershire' - OLs faced their toughest physical test of the season. A mistake from the kick-off put OLs under pressure, but resolute defence kept Spartans out. Slowly, OLs got to terms with their opponents abrasive style, and moved on to the attack, with Callum Dixon to the fore. As OLs forwards began to dominate, Spartans started to give away penalties, and from one near the line, Sam Forster skated over, adding the conversion himself.

Spartans scored after the restart with a fine move, but OLs responded in fine style, with the forwards securing possession, allowing Jack Firth to burrow over from close range. Forster converted again, and the whistle went soon after leaving OLs worthy winners by 14 - 7.

The match against Evesham, saw an experimental OLs side, dominate from the start. Jack Nixon and Josh Blight both made long penetrating runs, into the heart of Evesham's defence.

An early try from Ciaran Lavery, was doubled by Harry Gwynne, and although Evesham responded, OLs responded with a sustained attack, from which Kyriakos Grammatopoulos scored. Kyriakos added a conversion, with two from Jack N, as OLs won by 21 - 7.
