A late change of fixture meant that the Old Leamingtonians Wanderers had to visit Rugby Welsh 1st. Also, due to the cancellation of the OL veteran’s game, the Wanderers gained a few players who brought a lot of experiences especially for the young generation aiming to progress to higher levels.
The first twenty minutes of the game saw the Wanderers being unable to neither retain the ball nor defend adequately, which resulted in four uncontested tries from the Rugby Welsh team. But the last part of the first half, the Wanderers regrouped to show that they could play as a unit. The OL’s forward started to dominate in all areas of the game with the backs finishing off the moves. At half time, the Wanderers trailed only by one score helped by Balli Atwal charging moves from the back of the scrum and a superb display of kicking from Mark Foley who slotted all the convertions from both touchlines.
