THREE CLUBS. TWO PITCHES. ONE GREAT NIGHT!

THREE CLUBS. TWO PITCHES. ONE GREAT NIGHT!

Dicky Davies

A 3-way walkabout in the Cowpatch!

Last night saw the first of our three planned three-way Walking Rugby fixtures, with Kenilworth Walking Rugby hosting both Leamington Walking Rugby and Old Leamingtonians Nomads at The Cowpatch.

And what a brilliant evening it turned out to be!

Over 45 players and supporters descended on Glasshouse Lane for a healthy dose of Walking Rugby, competitive spirit, questionable walking techniques and, of course, plenty of friendly banter!

Three clubs coming together, mixing up the teams and getting stuck into some great games made for a fantastic atmosphere both on and off the pitch.

And that's what this format is all about.

Yes, we want to play rugby. Yes, nobody likes losing. And yes, there was probably the occasional “I wasn't running!” ? But ultimately it's about getting people together, making new friends, keeping active and having a bloody good laugh along the way.

A huge thanks to Laurence at Kenilworth RFC for arranging and to everyone who travelled along from Leamington and the Nomads to make it such a cracking Wednesday night.

If that's not a great advert for the growth of Walking Rugby across Warwickshire, we're not sure what is.

And the best bit? This was only round one!

Two more three-way fixtures are still to come.

Warwickshire Walking Rugby — growing one Wednesday night at a time.
